DOCTOR'S NOTE
At Skin Laundry, we believe that skincare is a lifestyle that doesn’t take seasonal breaks. Our Signature Laser Facial, a dermatologist-designed innovation, targets common skin concerns like acne, rosacea, melasma, hyperpigmentation and fine lines. This treatment is most effective as part of a regular routine, making it an essential part of your skincare regimen all year long. However, many clients wonder whether Laser Facials are safe during the summer months when sun exposure is heightened. The short answer is yes—and we’ll explain why.
Here, Skin Laundry’s Chief Medical Officer, board-certified dermatologist Dr. Roberta Del Campo, shares why laser facials are safe year-round and offers her top tips for pre- and post-care during summer.
What is Skin Laundry’s Signature Laser Facial?
Named the "Holy Grail" of laser treatments by Cosmopolitan magazine, Skin Laundry’s Signature Laser Facial is a 15-minute, no-downtime treatment suitable for all skin types. Using proprietary, state-of-the-art technology, it addresses a range of skin concerns including acne, rosacea, wrinkles, melasma and pigmentation, in clients aged 13 and up.
The treatment uses light emitted from the laser, which is converted into heat energy within the dermis (middle layer of the skin). This energy breaks up excess pigmentation, repairs vascular damage, stimulates collagen and elastin production, and removes damaged tissue. Notably, the laser bypasses the top layer of the skin, preserving the skin barrier and healthy melanin. The result is visibly healthier, firmer, and brighter skin for all skin tones and types.
At Skin Laundry we’re constantly looking to improve skin health, and this isn’t something that should take a seasonal break.
“At Skin Laundry we’re constantly looking to improve skin health,” says Dr. Del Campo. “This isn’t something that should take a seasonal break.” While some people believe laser treatments are best done in spring, but Del Campo emphasizes that with the right technology and protocols, laser facials are safe and beneficial year-round.
“The specific technology that Skin Laundry uses dives deeper into the skin, bypassing that top layer of skin that can become more reactive in summer,” Del Campo explains.
For those who rely on year-round facials to keep acne, rosacea and other skin conditions at bay, the good news is that Skin Laundry’s Laser Facials are safe year-round, even in summer.
"Consistency is key when it comes to skin health Del Campo adds. "There’s no reason to pause treatments in summer. It’s all about maintaining a regular routine for optimal results."
However, she advises avoiding Laser Facials if your skin is sunburned, irritated, or inflamed: “Let your skin heal first before scheduling a treatment."

The Signature Laser Facial is ideal for getting your skin back on track after a sunny getaway, as the technology treats and repairs the signs of sun damage. In addition to dark spots, UV exposure can cause collagen and elastin to break down, which leads to wrinkles, fine lines and sagging skin.
“The laser heats up sun-damaged skin, which tricks the body into healing skin at the deepest layers, stimulating new, healthy collagen and elastin and thereby minimizing evidence of photodamage,” Del Campo says. “Not only is the Signature Laser Facial going to improve the appearance of sun-damaged or photodamaged skin, but it’s actually going to change the anatomical structure, improve the skin’s health and give us stronger, healthier, more resilient skin.”
The Signature Laser Facial is especially effective for repairing sun damage caused by UV exposure. Over time, sun exposure can break down collagen and elastin, leading to wrinkles, sagging, and pigmentation.
“The laser heats up sun-damaged skin, stimulating new collagen and elastin production,” Dr. Del Campo explains. “This not only improves the appearance of sun-damaged skin but also strengthens the skin’s structure for better long-term health.”
Post-treatment care is essential for maintaining the benefits of your Laser Facial—especially in summer. After the procedure, your Skin Laundry provider will apply a serum that targets your specific concerns and finish with a broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.
Dr. Del Campo emphasizes, "Sunblock is crucial after any laser facial, especially during the summer. UV exposure can undo the results of the treatment, so applying sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every two hours is essential."
In the one to two weeks following a Laser Facial, avoid direct sun exposure and make sure to protect your skin from UV rays. Remember, newly treated skin is more sensitive and prone to damage from the sun.
Laser Facial aftercare is always about sunblock—no matter what time of the year.
Summer is the perfect time to enhance your skincare routine with Skin Laundry's add ons and take your skincare to the next level:
• Avoid direct sun exposure for the first few days post-treatment.
• Always wear sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) to protect newly healed skin.
• Reapply sunscreen every two hours, especially after sweating or swimming.
• Add Illuminator or Fixer onto your Facial to enhance your results.
Incorporate a Vitamin C Serum into your summer skincare routine for added protection. Vitamin C helps neutralize free radicals from UV exposure, preventing sun-induced damage like wrinkles and dark spots. When paired with SPF, it maximizes your skin’s defense against the sun’s harmful effects.
