How to Stay Hydrated and Glowing This Holiday Season

This refreshing mocktail, packed with antioxidants, electrolytes and probiotics, pairs perfectly with radiant skin.

Healthy skin is hydrated skin, but the holiday season—with its fluctuating temperatures, cocktail parties, airplane travel and stress—can take a toll on your skin. Hydration is key, as it refers to water, and our skin needs water to maintain strength, elasticity, and that healthy, glowing look.

When the cells beneath the skin's barrier lose too much water, the skin can become dehydrated. This leads to shriveled cells, which may cause the skin to appear dull, lackluster, and more prone to fine wrinkles. Water is essential for maintaining your skin’s moisture balance and flushing out toxins. Well-hydrated skin is more resilient, less prone to wrinkles and has a brighter, more youthful appearance.

Drinking enough water also helps improve skin clarity by flushing out toxins, which can reduce the occurrence of blemishes and acne. Proper hydration supports healthy blood flow, ensuring essential nutrients reach the skin cells for a radiant, glowing complexion.

While water is important, your body typically gets about 20% of its required hydration from the foods you eat. Raw fruits and vegetables are especially rich in water content. But hydration isn’t just about water—it also involves electrolytes and carbohydrates, which help the body absorb and retain fluids. Electrolytes like sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium, and calcium are essential for maintaining optimal hydration levels.

This holiday season, stay hydrated and give your skin a boost with this refreshing, skin-supporting mocktail.

Why I Love This Hydration Mocktail

Not only is this mocktail delicious, but it also has powerful benefits for your skin. The hero ingredient, tart cherry juice, is extracted from Montgomery (or sour) cherries and packs a punch with its naturally occurring tryptophan and melatonin—both of which support quality sleep. Tart cherry juice is also rich in antioxidants, including anthocyanins, which help reduce inflammation, minimize damage from UV exposure, and boost collagen production.

In addition to tart cherry juice, this mocktail features a dash of apple cider vinegar for probiotics, vitamin C from a spritz of lime, and a pinch of sea salt to act as an electrolyte, helping with hydration. Together, these ingredients create a satisfying, alcohol-free drink that will hydrate your skin, nourish your body, and help you sleep soundly so you can wake up looking and feeling refreshed.
