Bella Ratcliff, 21. Skin Concern: Acne and Acne Scarring.

Protocol: Signature Laser & Resurfacing Facial.

I currently work at Skin Laundry, where I am the manager in training at the Newport Center Drive location. When I joined the company I had a lot of acne, acne scarring, redness, and large pores. It had been bothering me since I was 15 and made me feel awful. The breakouts and scarring were on my cheeks, the redness was on my chin, forehead and everywhere on my t-zone, and I had very large pores. I remember looking in the mirror at all the breakouts and thinking I’d be so much prettier if I didn’t have all these skin issues.

I used a lot of topical skincare products that I had seen on social media but nothing would work no matter how long I used it. I think it actually worsened it all because I was introducing so many new products into my routine and my skin was freaking out.

On my first day of training at Skin Laundry we had some availability, so I tried a treatment. The nurse made me feel really comfortable and talked me through the whole process. It wasn’t painful, I experienced no redness or no downtime, and the next day, I noticed that my skin felt much clearer and the breakouts were a little smaller. It was amazing because nothing had ever made such a difference in my skin so quickly.

I knew it wouldn’t eliminate all my breakouts immediately but I trusted the nurses because they were always honest and upfront about everything. They explained that optimal results were going to take consistency and I also had to put in the work with my skincare routine. I also found that the protocols and treatment process were easy for those who don’t want downtime. I could go out and go on with my life and not have to deal with my skin looking crazy.

I started with the Signature Laser Facial to help with my breakouts. I did it every seven days to clear out all the congestion in my skin. About three months in, I started noticing that I wasn’t breaking out as much and the scarring was fading away. Then I started doing the Resurfacing Facial to target the scarring. A year in, I was getting a lot of compliments on my skin. Now, I do the Power Duo Facial every month to keep everything balanced and maintained and hopefully eliminate the remainder of my acne scarring. My skin is looking a lot smoother, healthier, and glowing, as it used to be pretty dull due to all the congestion. It makes me feel amazing to see the difference in my skin and to be able to go out and face the world.

I’ve learned that consistency is definitely key to targeting any skin concern, and it’s important to stick with a regular routine of treatments. The nurse who administered my first treatment also recommended some great products that I use every morning to maintain my results at home. I like having a routine and staying consistent - just like going to the gym.

Now, when someone tells me that they’re not feeling so great about their skin, I say, “I work at Skin Laundry, come in, try a treatment, and we can get you on a routine. You’ll see a difference in your skin.” I understand what it’s like not having great skin, and I want to help others feel more confident. I’m always showing clients my before photos, and if someone’s not sure these treatments really work, I assure them they do.....because I know that firsthand.
