Everything You Need To Know About Chemical Facial Peels

Learn more about our new Rejuvenator and Revitalizer Facial Peel Enhancements

At Skin Laundry, we believe in making cutting-edge skincare technology accessible to all. We continuously seek out the most effective, clinically designed medical-aesthetic products to integrate into our offerings, ensuring transformative treatments for every skin type and tone.

To boost and enhance the benefits and results of our Facials we are rolling out two new enhancements, Revitalizer and Rejuvenator, both chemical facial peels, that can be added on to your service.

“I’ve been waiting for this forever; our clients are going to be thrilled,” says Skin Laundry’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Roberta Del Campo, a board-certified dermatologist. “We know that consistency is key when it comes to our Laser Facials and that it generally takes three to five treatments to blend discoloration and brighten and firm the skin. But when you add in a chemical peel, you will immediately see results—you'll leave the clinic with noticeably brighter, firmer skin.”

Read on to learn more about these new treatments and which one is right for you.

What Are Chemical Peels?

A chemical peel is a non-invasive treatment during which a chemical solution (usually an acid) is applied to the skin and removed after a certain amount of time. The chemical solution intentionally damages the outer layers of the skin, causing them to peel or flake off, revealing newer, healthier skin underneath.

A chemical peel can be used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, sun damage and acne scars. The number of chemical peels required depends on the type of peel, your skin type, and the skin concern you're treating.

Chemical peels can be categorized as light (superficial), medium or deep, indicating the depth of skin penetration. Light peels affect only the outermost layer of skin (epidermis), medium peels penetrate deeper into the upper dermis, while deep peels reach the mid-dermis.

Common ingredients in chemical peels include acids like glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid, citric acid and trichloroacetic acid (TCA) that have varying depths of skin penetration.

What Are the Benefits of Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels can benefit the skin in several ways and address a host of skin concerns, from fine lines and wrinkles to acne and hyperpigmentation. Non-invasive and with minimal downtime, a peel can reveal fresher, brighter and tighter skin with just one treatment.

• Skin resurfacing: Removes the top layer of damaged skin, revealing fresh, new skin cells underneath.

• Improved texture: Creates a smoother skin texture by exfoliating dead skin cells.

• Reduced wrinkles: Helps diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

• Even skin tone: Can address hyperpigmentation, sunspots and age spots, leading to a more even skin tone.

• Acne treatment: Can help manage acne by removing excess oil and dead skin cells from pores.

• Collagen stimulation: Promotes collagen production, which can improve skin elasticity and firmness.

• Scar reduction: May help minimize the appearance of superficial scars.

• Enhanced product absorption: Prepares the skin to better absorb skincare products after a peel.

“I always recommend adding a light chemical peel to your laser facials,” says Dr Del Campo. “It helps the laser penetrate better because the chemical peel exfoliates the skin, and it will help you see results faster. While, again, laser facials take time, chemical peels offer immediate satisfaction—they instantly make the skin pop and glow.”

Introducing Our New Revitalizer and Rejuvenator Facial Peels

Revitalizer is a detoxifying carbon peel designed to remove oil, debris and bacteria, stimulate collagen production and improve overall skin quality for smoother, brighter, fresher skin. “Though this is beneficial for all skin types, it’s especially beneficial for someone with acne or oil-prone skin as this peel dives deeper into the skin to decongest the pores,” Del Campo explains.

Formulated with a blend of glycolic, ferulic, mandelic and lactic acids, this non-invasive, topical treatment breaks up dead skin cells, tightens enlarged pores, reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation and delivers antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Rejuvenator is a gentle chemical peel designed to tighten, brighten and firm the skin, resulting in a smoother, more even-toned complexion. “This treatment really does help rejuvenate the skin,” Dr Del Campo says. “Think about this as an all-in-one exfoliator, brightener, fine-lines-and-wrinkles improver and pigmentation improver that’s safe on all skin types, including sensitive and dry skin.”

Formulated with liposomal growth factors and a blend of chloroacetic, mandelic and kojic acids, this non-invasive, topical treatment stimulates natural regeneration processes, boosts hydration and provides antioxidant benefits to improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.

Exfoliates and stimulates cell regeneration

Doctor’s Note

Though these treatments are called peels, the skin won’t necessarily peel afterwards. More common side effects include fine flaking and redness which are signs that the treatment is working. These side effects can be minimized with non-comedogenic, over-the-counter barrier-repair treatments such as Aquaphor.
